Biography
In the course of any given work day, Ernest (Ernie) Furt might change “hats” 75 times. He switches easily from non-resident tax issues to sales tax, corporate and a myriad of other tax-related issues.
“It drives me crazy,” he admits. “But that’s what keeps me going. I like challenges. I enjoy it when there’s a problem out there that others can not solve and I can, especially when it benefits the client. Our clients are like a second family to me. Clients are what drives our business, and we have to service them in the way they want to be serviced.”
Ernie has successfully sorted out many tax snarls since joining the firm in 1985. He has even imparted his skills and advice in business publications and on the occasional radio program. He has steered people in the right direction in such matters as tax planning, setting up family trusts, using insurance in different tax situations, and just generally finding ways to save money for taxpayers.
Armed with an analytic mind and an engaging personality, Ernie says he doesn’t sell products, he sells relationships because, as he notes: “Once a trust and relationship is built with a client, things happen. The client comes to regard you as the one to call whenever they have a question or need to solve a problem.”
