Biography
Lorne Brotman, CPA, CA has sat on both sides of the table at FL Fuller Landau. In 1995, after almost 10 years at the firm, he left for industry to act as VP of Finance for a group of privately held companies that were also clients of FL Fuller Landau. The experience in industry taught Lorne that at the end of the day, quality of service, value and the relationship built with a service provider are what matter most. “It’s a lesson I’ve taken back with me to FL Fuller Landau. I really try and have the equivalent of an open-door policy with my clients – when they need business advice, I want to be the person they call”.
In 2011, after keeping in close contact with his former colleagues at FL Fuller Landau, Lorne came aboard as the firm’s Director of Accounting and Real Estate Management, and heads up a team of 10 accountants. “I’m a professional at heart, it felt like the right move to come back here to where I started”. Leading a team of 10 people has its challenges, one of which is fostering development and growth both of the department itself and of the team members.
Lorne’s team has the training and skill set to prepare financial statements, income tax returns, trust returns and can take care of the bookkeeping and payroll needs of their clients. Lorne has a bachelor’s degree in Commerce (graduated with great distinction) from McGill University and was the recipient of the Touche Ross Award for academic merit. He completed his graduate diploma in public accountancy (McGill University) in 1988, and received his professional designation in 1990. Lorne is fluent in both English and French.
